Two interviews were conducted to discuss the obsolete technology - overhead projector and the emerged technology  - the Promethean boards.

Interview Clarifications

1. The decision maker stated that the overhead projector was still being used in the department, mainly by the instructors who teach ESL. I made further inquiries from the various ESL site and found that only one overhead projector is still being used on the main campus by two instructors. One was interviewed as the end user.
 

2. The end user stated that she uses the overhead projector only 5% of the time now. After I replayed the interview, I asked the end user to specify why she she still uses the overhead projector 5% of the time. She said becasue she had not yet digitized the rest of her transparencies.
 

3. The other instructor who uses the overhead projector says she has over 15 years of material for her ESL classes on transparencies. She has not converted many of the lesson because she has recreated new computerized slides. She states that she uses the overhead projector 10% of the time in the classroom now and is slowly learning to use the Promethean board. Her process with the Promethean board is slow because she does not have access to a boards every quarter when classes are assigned.

 

4. In the decision maker interview, Stephanie Rooks stated that our department would love to purchase more Elmo overhead projectors and document cameras. Our department recently purchased 6 Elmo overhead projectors and document cameras for our off site locations. These are more portable than the tradtional overhead projectors.
